I wanted to do something with my kids for Valentines Day. I've seen the melted crayon art and decided we would try it. What kid wouldn't want to melt crayons over fire?
I have some old vinyl blinds I've been wanting to do something with so I cut them into squares. I wanted to make a banner to hang over the doorway.
I stenciled my letters onto duck tape, cut them out and put them onto the vinyl squares.
My kids peeled the paper off of the crayons while I did this.
Now the fun begins. We melted the crayons over a candle and dotted the crayon onto the vinyl. I let them do whatever colors they liked. They were careful not to burn their fingers. The crayon cools quickly.
Then I took a toothpick and traced through the crayon around the letter so I could carefully pull the duck tape off. We used Q-tips to clean up the white area. I had to touch up a few spots where the crayon came off with the tape but overall I was pleased with how they turned out.
This is our LOVE banner. We had a lot of fun making this.
One of my favorite things to do is making crafts with my kids.
They love creating, just like their momma!
(Now, to figure out what else I can make with those vinyl blinds!)
