Its been a busy few days! I hope you guys had a good weekend. My daughter and I went thrift shopping on Saturday and I picked up these two beauties. This bread box is screaming for some chalk paint. I love the shape, the top that makes a shelf, the hardware and especially the carving!
I found this chicken hiding in the book section of GW. I assume waiting for someone to return for it but all is fair in love and thrift shopping. LOL! I carried this chicken around with my head held high. "Its mine!" I said.
I finally finished up this EAT sign. Its been a work in progress (procrastinated) for the last week. I put some chalk paint over an old sign that had seen better days and I stenciled (using my Cricut) and lightly sanded it. Its hanging over my kitchen sink. I'll live with it a while to see if it stays. I tend to move things around.
These are my 7 year old red dishes that I once loved. They are so worn and are starting to look pink. These look so sad. They were were good while they lasted. Anyway, its time for some new ones.
TA DA! These are from Walmart. I looked everywhere but I didn't see any that I liked any better and especially for the price. $25.00 for a 4 place setting. I have children who have dishwasher duty and our dishes are going to be chipped, broken, etc. so I didn't want to spend a lot of money. These are perfect.
I got a 12 piece setting. We have 6 in our family so with company, we needed the extra. I've been wanting some white dishes for a while now. You can't see it in the photos but they have a distressed look where you see the lines going around. I love that! They have a nice lip on the edges so juices don't run off of the plate.
The soup bowls are nice and deep, perfect for soups and cereals.
The mugs are large. You know I love that - great for cofffffeeeee!
I made this Menu sign too. It was nothing really, just an old frame I had. My daughter sprayed some chalkboard paint on the cardboard that is supposed to hold a photo in. I may paint the frame later. It has really pretty flowers carved around the edges. So much to do - so little time.
Look how this chicken keeps stealing the show :-)

Hope you are having a great Tuesday my friends!

I love your new white dishes! And the chicken does seem to enjoy the limelight. ;-)
Your eat sign looks really cute, and I think I like the frame gold on the chalkboard sign! It adds a bit of pizzaz and glamour! Looks great.

White dishes are always timeless! I had a fancier set that always got chipped and I couldn't even use them in the microwave. So, I went to Ikea and bought some plain & simple white dishes and love them.
Love the chicken. bok, bok. :)
LOVE your new dishes, Sherry! These would be perfect for my daughter and her two little ones. BTW - I wanted to tell you that your staging for these photos is great!
Hi Sherry! Love the dishes! I got plain white ones from Ikea and really enjoy them! I've awarded you the Liebster Blog Award! You can go to my blog and accept it!
You can't go wrong with white dishes. When my son got married 6 years ago, I bought 70 plates for the rehearsal dinner. I use them as much as my everyday dishes. They match everything and can be formal or casual. I love, love the chicken. Thanks for always inspiring. I love all your ideas and the fact that you follow through on them. You are a motivation for me.
Ooh! I love that chicken. If I had found her in the GW you'd have to wrestle her form my arms! your new dishes are marvelous! I agree - kids wreck dishes. It's better to buy pretty and CHEAP!
I love your new dishes. Your EAT sign and chalk board are a nice addition to your kitchen. The bread box will be a fun project.

Omigosh! I just bought that same dinnerware at WalMart. I had bought a few of the plates and bowls individually, then went back to get more and guess what? The $25 sets were on sale for just $3. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. So I bought 4 of the sets for just $12. I still can't believe it!
Hi so glad you stopped by. Thanks you for the wonderful comments. I am happy to be your newest follower on liky and google. I love chairs any chair and those two you have are the cutest because they can go just about anywhere. I like the style of them. Thanks for posting.
White dishes are my favorite. They go with anything. :)
