Our Family's Sign

I've been seeing these Family signs everywhere so naturally I wanted to make one :)
So this is my rendition. We strive for these traits, missing the mark often but this is the heart of our family.

I made up some black chalk paint (grout and paint combo) and painted one of my shutters.
I have to say, chalk paint is wonderful! It makes painting projects so easy. It dries fast, it's forgiving and it looks great when you shabby it up a bit.

Thank goodness for my Cricut! I had all of my words cut out in just a few minutes.
I love the look of stencils (with paint) but I hate the stress of stenciling :(
And I always mess up and have to repair... or re-do.

I modge podged them to the shutter. I love that stuff!
I made a flower out of burlap with a button in the center to hang my sign with.
I got the idea from Lisa at Budget Design Girl.  Please give her a visit.

I made this little flower on the side the same way.
I glued some burlap to the other side to balance things out.

I didn't make the sign say Family "Rules" like I've seen floating around.
I like to think that these words reflect our lifestyle, not just "rules" that we follow.

This was so much fun and another way to use my extra shutters.
It was also great having my kids help me come up with the words.
Family - What a blessing!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

I love it! I also have been considering making one. I even bought the stencil to do it. Aren't you clever to cricut it. Great idea.

What a great use of a shutter! Perfect for this sign. I'm starting to think I need a shutter...just as soon as I run out of windows and cabinet doors. ;) I really like these family signs and what they remind us of.

Well that is just as cute as can be! Great idea repurposing the shutters and using the Cricut for the letters! Love the burlap bows! :)

I love it! I'm following LF. I'm hosting a bloglovin' blog hop over at www.thenymelrosefamily.blogspot.com/2012/02/bloglovin-blog-hop.html until Sunday and I would love it if you would link up. Bloglovin' is much easier to use than LF because it's easier to follow your favorite blogs. The instructions on how to add bloglovin' are posted with the hop.
