I love burlap! I love the color, the texture, everything! I picked up a roll of outdoor/garden burlap and I knew I had to make a wreath with it.
I used this hoop as a template and made a wreath shape out of the foam. Then I wrapped burlap around the foam a few times so I couldn't see the white anymore. I would have used cardboard but I didn't have any big enough. The foam worked fine. Trash to treasure ;)
I cut small squares from the burlap, I wrapped the burlap around the end of the Sharpie and then hot glued it to the wreath. I did this about a zillion times. I learned that I need a BETTER glue gun. I learned that outdoor burlap is messy! Strings galore! I had to vacuum the floor and myself several times.
I ran out of burlap! BUT I wanted to finish this project up! So, I took it outside and sprayed it with this glue so the strings wouldn't fall out. It worked perfect.
No, these are not Easter eggs! I cut some Styrofoam balls in half and glued then in the empty space so I could stick some flowers in there.
I made a bow for the first time with ribbon from WalMart, stiff enough to hold shape. I kept tying it like you tie your shoes, layering it on top of each other and ta- da! Works for me.
Here it is on the front door. Looks nice but I couldn't stand the thought of it being out in the weather. I worked so hard on this thing. I think it needs a name and a room! Maybe insurance!
I hung it here in the living room over this mirror.
That black hole is our T.V. It sits inside what used to be a bookcase. I wanted to show you the size of the wreath on this wall. I think it works.
Finally, last photo! I don't think I would do this again (I've said that before!) It was a bit messy but I do love the texture. I like that I can change up the flowers for different seasons, or I can fill in the space with burlap when I buy more- whichever, it is done. (or almost done :)
