Christmas Ball Wreath 2012

I know you guys are familiar with the Christmas ball wreaths. I promised myself last year that I would collect the ornaments and make one this year. Honestly, I wasn't all that excited about it this year.. But the balls were collected (thrift store and clearance) so here we go.

I was going to use a pool noodle but I picked this straw wreath form up cheap at GW last Saturday. I even found some garland at another thrift store for a few cents. The first thing that I did was to wrap the garland around the wreath hot gluing it ever so often.

Then I hot glued the balls around the inside of the wreath working my way outward.

Then I did a row on the outer edge using random colors but alternating big and small balls.
See the little box holding up the small red ball? I did that under each one for a few seconds while I was gluing the one beside it. It helped hold them in place while the glue dried. Genius, yes I know. Haha.

Here is the finished result. It turned out nice, but I admit that I am not in the mood for lots of Christmas color this year. I decided to hang this on the front door. Most of the balls are plastic. I am not afraid.

This is the backside of the wreath. We have a glass front door so this is the view from the living room.

My first Ball. Wreath that is! Anyway, crossing this off the list.
Have a wonderful weekend friends!

Simple gorgeous! Each year I say I am going to hit the sales and buy ornaments to make one of these for the following year, and then each year I am too broke (aka Santa shopping) to buy them. haha I need to watch the yard sales, etc. I love your easy technique. TFS.

I tell myself that every year too, Sherry - that I'll make Christmas ornament wreath. Have I done it? No. But I love yours! I think one reason is that I didn't realize how easy it could be. Thanks for sharing!

You did a fantastic job on this wreath, Sherry! It looks great. Love the addition of the blue ornaments.

This turned out really beautiful! Makes me want to make one now. I could totally handle hot gluing them instead of wiring them on ;)

Sherry,
I just love your wreath! I've always wanted to try making one,,, but I'm so cheap that I have a hard time spending the money even for the ones at the thrift stores (silly aren't I?) Your colors are so festive and merry.... I am sorry that you are not in the Christmas spirit this month... I pray all is ok.

Your ball wreath is so pretty. I admire them a lot but have never made one myself. I like the idea of the tinsel garland so the back side looks pretty too.
