A 5 minute wreath idea and my chalk painted bedroom suite

My sweet family bought me this camera for Christmas. It's one of the BEST presents ever! I'm using it on auto till I get the hang of everything, but already it has made my life easier. It shoots great in low light, it's not blurry, the battery life lasts a week, I can take thousands of pictures, crop them ON my camera, and it's easy for this NON-techy woman to use. THANKFUL!

So lets get started! I wanted a quick simple wreath to hang over my bed. I tied short strips of burlap over the fat part of this hoop. Because its wider than the rest of the hoop, it was the perfect place for the "bow" looking part of the wreath.

Then I wrapped the rest of the hoop with a long strip of burlap and hot glued it in place. Done! This only took a few minutes.

Very simple. Not too fussy.

See how the strips of burlap tied in around the fat part of the hoop mimics a bow? The frame behind the wreath was a picture frame from GW. I popped out the back and painted it white and now it looks like a window. I picked up the shelf from Salvation Army. It was a dark wood. I chalk painted it.

And while you're here, take a look at my bedroom suite. I painted it white back in the fall. I used homemade chalk paint and I'm happy to say that the Annie Sloan wax goes over the homemade chalk paint nicely. The reason I didn't use Minwax is because it turned my white paint a yellow color and the AS left it white. I still have a lot left to wax. To cut down on the dust, I will distress the suite after I wax it. It may be summer before I finish it but it's fine, the paint is holding up great to dusting AND I can repaint areas very easily if I need to. Chalk paint is SO forgiving!

This photo reminds me that I have NO REGRETS! I never liked this headboard. So big... and ... blah.

I still love my white walls. I like how this room feels. Not much color, just clean and calm feeling.

This is my dresser before it was painted.

I'm still not sure about the hardware. I'm seriously considering painting them white and distressing them so they won't "stand out" so much, but I like the dresser soooo much better white.

TV cabinet before.

That pretty little girl over in the corner is doing her school work in my room. I currently have 3 children homeschooling so we have to spread out all over the house. My bedroom is a 5th grade classroom 4 hours a day. I guess this is one reason I like the calm feeling the white gives. We spend a lot of time in here.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope you guys have a great week!

OMGoodness! I love what you've done in your bedroom. I have a bedroom set that I'm dying to paint and I think the only thing that stops me is getting the whole huge king size set downstairs and outside to paint. Did you paint yours right in your room? I might have to consider that :)
The white walls are so soothing and peaceful and the wreath is sweet and simple! Love it all.

Love your new white room! I kind of like the dark handles as they are, but I know that photos often don't convey what it's like when you are right there.

Glad to meet another home schooler! I home schooled my two boys who are now out in the world. One is doing graduate work in NYC and the other has just started his first job after college. It was the best experience of my life. Lots of work--but work every bit of it.
