Bedroom and bath update

I finally got around to cleaning taking a few photos of the bedroom.

I had a white and burlap tan color scheme and I really like those colors but it still needed ...something.

So I made a few changes.

I tried different colors with it. I was thinking green, but...no. Red was okay, a bright yellow, very springy, but I didn't like different colors. I like plain. I like simple.

So, I decided to play up the knob color on the dresser.
Black. What a revelation. And imagination. I didn't even like the black knobs at first,
but then they grew on me and now I love them.

See the bird bath in the corner? I put a round piece of glass on the top,
it makes a great little table. And it sits here because I have no where else to put it.
I hear what you're thinking, why don't I put it back in the yard?
Because it's RE-purposed thank you very much!

I love my babies first shoes sitting on the corners of my dresser. I saw someone in blog land display their baby shoes like this and I immediately did it too.
I'm not too proud to copy.

My oldest daughter painted the side table. She used a paper stencil from Michaels.
This area of my room is where my youngest daughter has school everyday.

I found this black and white comforter at Walmart. I hung chalkboards on both sides of my window. I'm not sure what I will write on them. For now, I like the plain black.

It's impossible for me to put a bed skirt on this bed, because of the way it's made. I decided to use some old drawers underneath. They hide all the junk extra storage.

I picked this hanging clock up at GW this past Saturday. LOVE!
I have this thing for clocks. My newest obsession.

My bathroom is not finished. I still need to paint the vanities. We are still trying to decide on what type of floor to put down. I want wood, he doesn't want wood near water... to be continued.

I'm making open cabinets above the toilet, they need painting. All of the doors need a fresh coat of paint.  Procrastinating.
Anyway, this is what I have so far. The rug came from Lowes. The curtains are from Walmart.

*Here are some BEFORE photos I dug up.*
I loved my red bathroom for years. Now, it's so dark looking.
Notice the futon at the end of the bed. ???
The lovely brown furniture (same furniture I have now, I painted it with homemade chalk paint) and what was I thinking with the strange arrangement.
Notice, I do start to lighten things up. I really liked the yellow walls. I hate the color blue (don't judge) but I bought a blue bedspread. Logic said, blue and yellow go together, so that's what I did, even though I didn't like it, I'm crazy like that.

*Do you try to talk yourself into liking things, because it's easy, cheap, or trendy?
  1. I will not do that anymore.
  2. I will not do that anymore.
  3. I will not do that anymore.

Yep, I've come a long way baby.

I Spy... paper, glue, and glitter!

April Christmas Ornament
 This months Christmas ornament is....

Birdhouses of course! It is spring ya know.

I picked these up at Michaels for a $1.00 each.

I found this book at GW and decided to Mod Podge.

First I sprayed the tops white.

I covered the houses with the pretty paper,
glitter bombed the tops and the rest of the exposed areas.

Getting out of the gutter...

And into a vignette.
I saw this idea on the internet. Some things on the internet
are true, like, you can make a cloche out of a gutter strainer.
(Idea from Raised In Cotton)

I found these at Lowes Home Improvement store for a little over $2.00 each.

Straight out of the box, notice the middle one, I bent the edges out a little.
This wire is very soft, so you can manipulate it easily.

I shopped my house for different bases.
I used corks and a knob on the top for a handle.

I picked up these faux eggs from Target during Easter.
Notice how much these cloches will hold even though
they are small.

Yellow flowers show up nice for this one.

This one is my favorite. It's mine and my husbands
old watches draped across a glass measuring cup.

These are just a few ideas. If you need a little something
in a vignette, try one of these little guys.

Thank you so much for stopping by!
